Earth Day Scavenger Hunt

Here’s a great way to spend your Earth Day – a fun scavenger hunt perfect for the whole family!
What You’ll Need:
*One copy of the scavenger hunt per child, see below
*Pen/pencil/marker/crayon
Preparation:
*If you don’t have all of these things nearby, don’t worry! You can cross off any items your children won’t be able to find and add anything you want!
*Decide if you will all go together or split up. If you split up, decide how much time to give everyone.
Earth Day/Arbor Day: Trees, Trees, Trees

With Earth Day and Arbor Day coming up, we should take a moment to appreciate the trees that give us air to breathe, shade in the heat, and a million other things!
What You’ll Need:
*Trees
*Paper
*Crayons
Preparation:
*Don’t have trees in your yard? Head to a local park.
Activity:
*Read some books on trees in the shade of a large tree. See our suggestions below in "Suggested Resources."
Toilet Paper Roll Butterfly

Have you already started seeing butterflies in your yard? Well, you will if you make these beautiful butterflies which are also a great way to recycle!
What You’ll Need:
*Toilet paper rolls, OR paper towel rolls, cut in half
*White paper
*Paint
*Glue
*Scissors
Preparation:
*If your child is very young, you may want to cut the butterfly wings out for them ahead of time. Fold the paper in half and cut one set of wings out of the open side.
Baa, Baa Black Sheep

Teach your child "Baa, Baa Black Sheep" and create your very own black sheep. This craft courtesy of Ashland Community Preschool.
What You’ll Need:
*Paper
*Black or grey paint
*Cotton ball
*Black marker
*Google eye (optional)
*4 mini popsicle sticks or 2 regular popsicle sticks cut in half.
Preparation:
Easter Bunny Puppet

Get ready for the Easter Bunny by making this cute bunny puppet.
What You’ll Need:
*Paper Bag
*Crayon/marker/colored pencils
*Glue
*White paper
*Pink paper
*Pipe Cleaners – 2 per craft
*Cotton Balls – 2 per craft
Preparation:
*For younger children, parents may want to cut out the following: one large white oval and one smaller pink oval (for the stomach), two large white ears and two smaller pink ears.
*Cut the pipe cleaners into 3 pieces each.
