Stained Glass Placements
Make these beautiful placemats to decorate your Thanksgiving table.
What You’ll Need:
*Black construction paper, 8.5 by 14 or 11 by 17
*Yellow, orange, and red tissue paper, cut into 3x3 squares (2 or 3 of each color)
*Leaf template (see attachment below)
*Print out a leaf template in either MS Word or PDF format. You just need to print out one, regardless of the number of placemats. Since you are using them as a stencil, we recommend printing them on a heavyweight paper.
*Cut out the leaves and acorns form the template.
*Trace around the leaves and acorns on black paper using the chalk. Don’t put them too close together.
*Poke a hole in the center of each outlined leaf and acorn with the scissors and cut it out without cutting the rest of the paper.
*For each cut out, decide which tissue paper color(s) you will be using. Crumple that square of tissue paper. Glue around the edge of each cut out and lay the tissue paper over top. You may need to trim the excess. (This is the back of your placemat.) Allow to dry thoroughly.
*Cover both sides of your placemat with contact paper and trim, leaving a ¼ inch border.
*Send us a picture of your Thanksgiving table with your stained glass placemats and we may post it to our site! firstname.lastname@example.org.
