Read the classic story The Polar Express by Chris Van Allsburg. Then turn your child into a train conductor with this easy hat and train tickets!

What You’ll Need:
*Black construction paper
*Paper Plate
*Colored paper

*Cut a strip of black construction paper about 3 to 4 inches wide that is long enough to fit around your child’s head. You may need to tape multiple strips together.

*Read The Polar Express by Chris Van Allsburg together.
*Use chalk to decorate the black hat band.

*Tape the black hat band so that it fits snug around your child’s head.
*Cut the paper plate in half. Starting at the center of straight side of the plate, make four triangles by cutting three lines from the center of the plate to the rim.

*Bend the triangles so they are perpendicular to the rest of the rim.

*Tape the triangles to the inside of the black hat band, making sure the rim is centered.

*Cut small rectangles of colored paper and use markers to make them into train tickets.

*Send us a picture of your conductors we may post it to our site!
