New Year, New You
It’s the new you for the New Year. Your child can color and decorate a life size version of his or herself. Also, you can talk about the parts of the body, how many eyes they have, nose, fingers, etc.
What you’ll need:
*Roll of white paper (a roll of white wrapping paper works well)
*Decorative items (yarn, beads, fabric, stickers, etc.)
*Talk about how the new year is a time for making resolutions to improve ourselves and our lives. What are some resolutions you and your child can make this year?
*A “new you” is a phrase heard often at this time of year. Talk about how many people choose the new year as a time to start fresh.
*Trace your child’s body onto the white paper.
*Decorate: Add eyes (don’t forget eyelashes) nose, eyebrows, mouth, ears. This is a great time to work on body part recognition. Try and get them to think about all the details of their body. Let them have fun “dressing” their new selves in clothes and accessories.
*Once everything has dried you can hang their work and discuss the similarities and differences.
*Send us a picture of your kids and their new selves and we may post it to our site! email@example.com.
This activity can be found in the Holidays section of our site.
