Use these letter rocks to make words, sentences, or just work on letter recognition. If you like this craft, you’ll also enjoy our Letter Soup game, which works on similar skills.
What You’ll Need:
*26 to 30 clean, dry rocks (smooth, flat rocks work best)
*Use the marker to write the one letter of the alphabet on each rock. You might want to repeat some of the more common letters.
Here are just some of the great ways you can use your Letter Rocks:
*Form simple words out of your rocks.
*Put the rocks in a bucket or bag. Choose one without looking. Name all the things you can think of that begin with that word.
*Put the rocks in a bucket or bag. Choose one without looking. Now go on a scavenger hunt and find 5 things in your house or outside that begin with that letter.
*Make another set with lowercase letters and then have a game of memory by flipping them over and matching the uppercase and lowercase.
*Line them up in a row and practice reciting your ABCs.
*Send us a picture of your kids and their letter rocks and we may post it to our site! firstname.lastname@example.org.
