Jimmy's Boa Book & Craft
Read the classic story The Day Jimmy’s Boa Ate the Wash and create your very own boa. Just keep it out of your laundry pile!
What You’ll Need:
*The Day Jimmy’s Boa Ate the Wash by Trinka Hakes Noble
*Construction paper, ½ sheet of 3 different colors per child
*Talk about patterns with colors. Show your children some examples of patterns such as “blue, red, blue, red, blue, ___” and ask what comes next.
*Read the book The Day Jimmy’s Boa Ate the Wash.
*Cut each half-sheet of construction paper into 3 equal-size strips, so that you have 9 strips total, 3 of each color.
*Have your child help you put the color strips into a pattern.
*Staple the ends of the first strip together to make a ring. Slide the second strip into the first ring and then staple those ends to make a second, interconnected ring. Continue along with your pattern until you’ve used all your strips.
*Use the marker to draw a face on your first ring.
*Send us a picture of your boa and we may post it to our site! firstname.lastname@example.org.
