Fingerprint Votives

A great gift for Valentine’s Day, or just a fun way to use your empty baby food jars!
What You’ll Need:
*Glass baby food jar or votive candleholder
*Paint
*Paper towels or baby wipes
*Toothpick
*Paper, optional
*Votive candles
Preparation:
*Wash and dry the baby food jars or votive candleholders.
*We recommend testing out your design on some paper first before doing it on the glass.
Activity:
*Using your fingertips and toothpicks, paint the design on the glass. Dip your fingertip lightly in the paint – it will drip if it’s on too thick. Also, if you are using washable paint, do not wash the candleholders or jars after you are finished with this craft – the beautiful designs will wash right off! If you make a mistake on the glass, use a toothpick or corner of the paper towel to wipe it off while it is still wet. See the instructions below for some of our favorites.

*Hearts: Use your index finger. Make one side of the heart by putting your finger down on a 45 degree angle. Make the second side by putting your finger down on a 45 degree angle in the opposite direction. Allow to dry slightly before doing a second heart just overlapping the first.

*Snowman: Use your thumb for the base of the snowman. Use your index finger to make the middle section, and your pinky for the head. Use your pinky to make dots of snow on the ground around the snowman. Use a toothpick to add a hat, face, scarf, and buttons. Use a toothpick to draw the snowflakes.

*Ladybug: Use your thumb to make one large dot for the ladybug body. Use the toothpick to draw a line down the center, add antennae, and the dots on the wings.

*Butterfly: Use your index finger on a 45 degree angle in opposite directions going up for the top wings, and down for the bottom wings. Use a toothpick to add the body and antennae.

*Caterpillar: Use your index finger to make multiple side by side dots in a curved line. Use the toothpick to add a face and antennae.
