Fall is here and that means Leaf Man is on the move. Where is he going? We don’t know but “A Leaf Man's got to go where the wind blows.” Read Lois Ehlert’s Leaf Man, enjoy the amazing artwork and illustrations (made using real leaves), and create your own leaf creature.

What You’ll Need:
*Leaf Man by Lois Ehlert
*Leaves
*Acorns, sticks, etc.
*Glue

Preparation:
*Go outside and collect various colored leaves, acorns, sticks, etc. to make your creature.

Activity:
*Read Leaf Man out loud.
*Talk about or count the different animals you find in the story.
*While using the leaves and other fall items you collected to create your own leaf creature, talk about how the leaves change color in the fall. Use your arms to show how the Leaf Man and other leaves blow around.
*Talk about how far a leaf might travel in a day. Where would your leaf creature start? Where would he or she go? Where would he or she end up? What might he or she see along the way?
*Add a science component and talk about how the veins in the leaf bring water and nutrients throughout the leaf.
*Add a math lesson in by using a ruler to measure your leaves before making your leaf creature and then measuring your leaf creature once it is completed.
