Carnival Week is coming to My Activity Maker and what better to start off than with our favorite foods & snacks! If you like this craft, you’ll also like our Candy Bouquet.

Suggested Snacks (Recipes Below):
*Fresh-squeezed lemonade
*Funnel Cake
*Mini-Caramel/Chocolate-Covered Apples
*Caramel Corn
*Mini Corn Dogs

Fresh-squeezed Lemonade:
5 lemons
1 quart water
½ cup sugar, or more to taste

*Roll four of the lemons in your hands to make them a bit easier to squeeze.
*Cut in half and squeeze the juice into a pitcher. Use a slotted spoon to remove the seeds. Add water and sugar. Stir. Slice the last lemon and add to the lemonade. Chill. For an interesting twist, try adding some peppermint to your lemonade!

Funnel Cake
1 stick (1/2 cup) butter
¼ cup sugar
¼ tsp salt
½ cup water
1 cup flour
4 eggs
oil for frying
powdered sugar

*Combine butter, sugar, salt, & water in saucepan and bring to a boil. Remove from heat and add the flour. Return to low heat and stir until batter forms a ball. Transfer to a mixing bowl.
*With a hand mixer, beat in one egg at a time, incorporating each before adding the next one.
*Pour oil into a frying pan, so it is about 2 inches deep. Heat over medium heat. Drizzle the batter into the pan and cook until browned and puffy.

*Carefully remove the funnel cake from the oil, place on a paper towel to drain, and sprinkle with powdered sugar.

Mini-Caramel/Chocolate-Covered Apples
Lollipop sticks (or small popsicle sticks)
Caramel bits
Chocolate bark (we used white chocolate)

*Use the melon-baller to carve out small chunks of apple. Place each one on a stick.

*Melt the caramel bits and chocolate bark according to package instructions. Carefully dip the apples on sticks into the caramel and/or chocolate. (Save the remaining caramel and chocolate for the caramel corn recipe below.) Allow to cool slightly before dipping into the sprinkles.

*Allow to cool completely.

Caramel Corn
Popcorn, popped & cooled
Caramel bits or Chocolate bark (we used leftovers from the Mini Caramel Apple recipe above)
Cupcake liners

*If necessary, microwave the caramel or chocolate bark in 10 second increments, stirring often, until it is smooth enough to pour.
*Place the popcorn in a large bowl (bigger than needed to hold the popcorn). Drizzle the caramel or chocolate bark over the popcorn and mix gently.
*Drop spoonfuls into the cupcake liners, then allow to cool completely.

Mini Corn Dogs
*We used store-bought corn dog nuggets and cooked them according to package directions. Then we used the same lollipop sticks from the Mini Caramel apples.

*Send us a picture of your kids and their carnival snacks we may post it to our site!
