Beach Boardwalk Frame

Free Custom Photo Calendars

Make this perfect boardwalk frame for your favorite beach picture! If you like this craft, you’ll also like our Sandcastles Forever craft - another great way to keep memories of your beach trip fresh all year long.

What You’ll Need:
*Popsicle craft sticks (19 small and 2 large)
*Glue/hot glue
*2 corks
*Decorative items: small seashells, twine, beach photo for frame
*Blue craft paper
*Scissors
*Piece of cardboard (We used a cereal box)

Preparation:
*Talk about your favorite beach memories as you make the frame. Go through photos from past beach vacations and pick a favorite for this frame.
*Did You Know? Each boardwalk has its own fascinating history. For example, the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk started in 1865 as a series of bathhouses. Although Atlantic City, NJ is now known for its casinos and gambling, its main original attraction was the boardwalk, constructed in 1870. The boardwalk at Virginia Beach is one of the longest and oldest boardwalks in the U.S.
*Parents: If using a hot glue gun, we recommend that parents do the gluing for this craft. (We recommend the hot glue gun for the craft sticks because it dries faster and holds better.)

Activity:
*Lay out 15 of the small craft sticks side by side to form the boardwalk portion of your frame. Glue the two large sticks on top perpendicular to the 15 small sticks -- to hold them all in place. This is the BOTTOM of the boardwalk. Allow to dry.
*Cut the corks in half. Glue one to each corner of the bottom of the boardwalk.

*Glue the remaining 4 small craft sticks around the photo like a frame. Allow to dry. Glue the bottom craft stick of the frame to the back of the boardwalk. Allow to dry.
*Decorate the frame and boardwalk with twine and shells.
*Cut the cardboard about 1 to 2 inches larger than the boardwalk on all sides.
*Cut a wavy strip of blue paper the same length as the cardboard and glue to the bottom edge to make the water. Glue the boardwalk & frame to the cardboard. Decorate with shells.

*Send us a picture of your kids and their sandcastles and we may post it to our site! info@mycalendarmaker.com.
